Running Analysis at FitByKam

At FitByKam, running analysis is a thorough process designed to help you understand your movement, improve your technique and build confidence in how you run, whether you’re chasing performance, returning from injury, or developing a sustainable running routine.

We’ll go through detailed biomechanical assessments - looking at flexibility, range of motion, balance, alignment and any imbalances. We’ll also look for clues in the wear patterns on your running shoes.

We’ll then capture video and motion sensor analysis using Dartfish and Leomo software to explore:

  • Foot strike and ground contact time

  • Balance and timing

  • Upper body movement

  • Stability and rhythm

Through each stage, you’ll see how subtle changes influence your movement in real time.

But technology supports the process - it doesn’t define it.

No single metric can fully capture the holistic picture of what’s happening as you run. Your biomechanics, training history, and goals all play a part and shape how the information is interpreted and applied to the guidance and adjustments.

As an Ironman Certified Triathlon Coach, Cycling & Running Coach and Biomechanics Specialist, working with runners and multi-sport athletes across a wide spectrum of goals and events brings a broad perspective to the process.

Running a 5k differs from marathon or ultra-trail marathon preparation. Running off the bike in triathlon places unique demands on posture and efficiency. Returning from injury requires a different lens again.

Guidance is shaped around your specific aims - not a one-size-fits-all model.

Running Analysis Process

An informative and personalised process for all runners and multi-sport athletes to work together on your running form.

Before the Session

  • An intro call and information gathering ensures we begin with a clear understanding of your goals, training history and any injury background.

Assessment & Insight

  • Approximately three hours in total, typically delivered over two sessions within a timeframe to suit your needs to allow review and refinement.

  • Physical and biomechanical assessment (range of motion, flexibility, balance, alignment and potential imbalances, including leg length discrepancies).

  • Video and motion sensor analysis using Dartfish and Leomo to provide clear visual insight into your gait and movement patterns.

  • Immediate coaching on personalised adjustments so you feel the difference straight away.

Technology supports the process - but does not define it. No single data point captures the full picture. Coaching experience and biomechanical understanding shape how insights are interpreted and applied to you.

Review & Refinement

Your follow-up session allows us to:

  • Review progress

  • Refine technique

  • Extend adjustments

  • Build the next steps aligned to your goals

Whether you’re preparing for a 5k, marathon, ultra-trail marathon, triathlon, returning from injury or building sustainable fitness, the guidance reflects the specific demands of your running aims.

Footwear & Equipment

  • Running shoe wear patterns and design features are assessed as part of the process.

  • If you have multiple pairs, bring them along. Recommendations are based on the clarity gained through your movement analysis and how they align with shoe dynamics, not trends or anecdotal advice.

Ongoing Progression

  • If further review or structured refinement would benefit your development, tailored progression packages are available and we can explore whether this is the right approach for you during your sessions.

  • You’ll leave with greater awareness of your movement, practical adjustments you can implement immediately, and the knowledge to run with clarity and confidence.

Running/Multi-sport Progression Package

An inclusive package of a running gait analysis process plus additional sessions to support your running progression, with an option for multi-sport athletes too.

  • The package includes:

    - Running Gait Analysis Process detailed above (3 hours in total).

    - Three additional bespoke 1-1 progression sessions at the studio, which are designed around your specific needs and development points.

    Once your running gait analysis process has assessed and coached the adjustments for your starting points, you’ll be taking strides forwards along your continuing journey.

    If you’re a beginner and just getting going, then your progress in the initial stages will likely move quickly on from your starting point. Your progression will be supported with these additional sessions focussing on improving technique and any further adjustments as your confidence and ability grows to access further optimisation.

    If you’re a runner returning from injury then this is a highly recommended package. The 1-1 sessions can include focus on strength & conditioning, with workouts that you can replicate as part of your training, as well as revisiting key points on your running gait to help embed your improving form as you’re able to extend your running.

    And if you’re setting a path which is aiming for improved performance, then the sessions will focus on ensuring you maximise your efficiency and potential with coached sessions specific to you.

    - As detailed on the Bike Fitting page, a multi-sport package is available that can incorporate a bike fitting and swimming analysis as well your running.

    The package reflects the continuity, efficiency, and depth that come from working together over multiple sessions, and represents better value than booking the same sessions individually over time.

    Included sessions are to be used within 12 months.

Mobile Running Analysis

    • Home training setups are now more and more common, and if you have a suitable setup with a treadmill that you use for training, then carrying out the running analysis process at your location is a great option.

    • The coverage for mobile appointments is approximately up to 30-45 mins of travel from the studio location (EN2 8JF).

    • Mobile booking prices are dependent on the running analysis package and travel time to your location. On our intro call, we’ll look at your location, chat through the options and establish the best package for your specific needs.

    After this session, you'll feel much more confident about your individual running needs. You'll be equipped to approach future advice with an informed perspective. No more yo-yo-ing or experimenting with methods that may not be tailored to you.
